The Pawtery is a ceramics studio offering hands-on educational workshops for all skill levels, from beginners to professional artists. Our programs combine practical making with historical, cultural, and theoretical perspectives on pottery. We also provide thoughtfully designed children’s workshops that support creativity, sensory engagement, and body–mind development. In addition, The Pawtery actively cares for and promotes the wellbeing of cats, creating a safe and enriching environment for our feline companions alongside our creative programs.
Maria, founder of The Pawtery, is an artist who discovered her passion for ceramics after years of a research-based practice in the arts. After a BA in Fine Arts and a MA in Visual Cultures, her work in ceramics is a natural reflection of her deep-rooted philosophy: an exploration of life through the lens of temporality and materiality. To Maria, life, art, and ceramics are interconnected, each embodying a pursuit of intimate knowledge about how the world works through tangible, temporal experiences.
The Pawtery is the culmination of this ever-evolving philosophy and practice. In her studio, Maria teaches ceramics, encouraging creativity and learning outside the boundaries of contemporary art, traditional handicraft, or professional versus amateur distinctions. The focus is on the process—on gestures that explore the relationship between time, materials, and our daily experiences.
Beyond her love for ceramics, Maria’s compassion extends to her other great passion—cats. Known as a "cat whisperer" for her deep connection with them, she dreams of one day establishing a charity to care for the stray cats of Cyprus. In the meantime, The Pawtery is not just a space for artistic creation but also a symbol of her commitment to improving the lives of cats, whether strays or pets. Through her studio, Maria hopes to inspire both creativity and compassion, fostering a community that values art and the well-being of humans and animals alike.

🐾 The Pawtery — Terms & Conditions 🐾
Welcome to The Pawtery! We want our studio to be a fun, creative, and welcoming space for everyone. By booking a class or workshop with us, you agree to the following Terms & Conditions.
1. Booking & Payment
- Confirmation: Your place in a class or workshop is confirmed only once full payment has been received.
- Allocation: Places are allocated strictly on a first-come, first-served basis. A place cannot be held or considered confirmed until payment has been completed.
2. Cancellations & Rescheduling
We understand that plans can change. Cancellations or requests to reschedule are accepted up to 7 days (168 hours) before your scheduled class or workshop.
Where the required 7 days' notice is provided, you may choose to:
- Receive a full refund, or
- Transfer your booking to another available class or workshop.
3. No-Shows & Missed Sessions
- Forfeiture: If you do not attend your scheduled class or workshop without providing the required 7 days' notice, your booking is a no-show and the payment is forfeited.
- No Make-ups: We are unable to offer refunds, credits, or make-up sessions for missed classes due to personal emergencies, late cancellations, or non-attendance.
4. Late Arrival
- Strict Schedules: Please arrive on time. Our sessions follow a strict structure and will end exactly at the scheduled time, regardless of what time you arrive.
- No Extensions: We will not extend sessions, repeat demonstrations, or offer make-up time for participants who arrive late.
- Safety Cut-off: If a participant arrives more than 15 minutes late, they will miss critical safety instructions and may be barred from joining the session. No refunds will be issued in this scenario.
5. Children's Classes & Workshops
- Toileting Independence: Children must be completely independent with toileting. Our instructors are legally and operationally unable to assist children in the restroom.
- No Food/Snacks: Food and snacks are not permitted during class time to minimize disruptions and protect the clay environment. Exceptions are made only for pre-disclosed medical or dietary requirements. Please ensure your child has eaten before arriving.
- Medical & Behavioral Needs: Parents/guardians must provide accurate information and inform The Pawtery in advance of any relevant medical, behavioral, learning, or additional support needs.
- Prompt Pickup: Children must be collected promptly at the end of their session. The Pawtery does not provide childcare or supervision after the scheduled class time ends.
- Behavior: Participants must behave respectfully towards instructors, others, and the studio equipment. If a child’s behavior is unsafe or highly disruptive, a parent will be called to collect them immediately. The session will not be refunded.
6. Illness
- Studio Wellbeing: For the health of our community, please do not attend if you are unwell or experiencing symptoms of a contagious illness.
- Policy Application: Our standard 7-day cancellation policy applies to illnesses. Emergency exceptions are evaluated solely at the studio’s discretion.
7. Studio Safety & Conduct
- Instruction: Participants must follow all safety instructions provided by the instructor.
- Material Use: Tools, wheels, clay, and glazes must be used responsibly and only as directed.
- Right to Remove: The Pawtery reserves the right to immediately remove any participant whose behavior is unsafe, disruptive, or inappropriate. No refund or rescheduling will be offered.
8. Finished Pieces & Firing (The Nature of Clay)
- Unpredictability: Pottery is a natural, volatile process. Every piece is handmade, and final results (including size, shape, and glaze color) will vary.
- Kiln Casualties: Despite maximum care, clay can warp, crack, or completely break during the drying and firing process due to hidden air bubbles or internal stress.
- No Guarantees: The Pawtery cannot guarantee the successful firing of any piece. Refunds, replacements, or free studio re-dos will not be provided for work that cracks or fails as part of the normal ceramic process.
9. Collection of Finished Pieces
- Notification & Pickup: We will notify you once your finished pieces are out of the kiln.
- 30-Day Limit: Due to strictly limited shelf space, finished pieces must be collected within 30 days of notification.
- Disposal: Pieces left uncollected after 30 days will be recycled, donated, or disposed of. The Pawtery holds no responsibility for abandoned work.
10. Personal Belongings
The Pawtery is not responsible for lost, stolen, or clay-damaged personal items (including clothing, jewelry, or electronics) brought into the studio. Please dress for a messy environment and leave valuables at home.
11. Cancellation by The Pawtery
In the rare event that the studio must cancel a session, you will be issued a choice of a full refund or a priority transfer to a future date. The Pawtery is not liable for any outside expenses incurred due to a cancellation.
12. Photography & Social Media
We may occasionally photograph finished ceramic pieces for promotional or website use. We strictly do not photograph children or participants' faces without explicit, separate consent. If you prefer your finished pottery not be photographed, notify us before your session.
13. Liability
By attending, participants (and guardians of minor participants) assume all natural risks associated with using studio space, sharp pottery tools, and mechanical wheels, agreeing to follow all safety guidelines to prevent injury.
14. Acceptance of Terms
By completing your payment, you confirm that you have read, understood, and strictly agree to these Terms & Conditions.
